Novel Undereway

I’ve started writing a new YA novel about two teenage brothers who climb one of the tallest mountains in Alaska. Set around 1980, the novel will be loosely based on my own life. My brother and I had military training in repelling, mountaineering, and arctic survival. I’ve published numerous articles about climbing and even spelunking (caving). I’m very excited about it.

Stan’s the publisher of Cross-Cultural Communications Press, which is celebrating 40 years of excellence in publishing poetry worldwide.

Alaska

I recently spent a week in Alaska. Among other things, I attended the World Championship Sled Dog Races in Anchorage and the Junior World Championships the weekend before. Research for my new novel. Got to spend some time at my cabin in Talkeetna, where it was -22F. Had to keep stoking the wood stove to stay warm! Saw ten moose near the cabin!

About Those Experiences …

Working on my next YA novel. Some years ago, I learned how to run a dog sled team in Alaska. I have a cabin in Talkeetna, which has a lot of racing teams. I figure it’s time to write something about those experiences.
